Etzel
So my girlfriend had this ongoing story about a fey character Delma. But in her story one of her twins Etzel died. She wanted a little painting to commemorate the kid. A fun couple hours and a fun chance to flex my painting powers...

Viking Sword 1st Progress Pic
Tonight i had some art-time, so I started on the model for the viking sword, a companion piece for the axes that I have already completed. The plan is to make a set which will also include a shield and get them all on the Nexus for public consumption.
So tonight I got the sword modeled to my satisfaction.

And with wireframes on, because clean geometry is something I do.

Whale-dogs galore
So today was more work and fun, after a few days out of the running for various reasons, one of which was a completely sleepless night.
So today was some doodles on the idea of a "whale dog." The idea is this is a dog-like creature native to the planet Thessia in the Mass Effect universe. (Yes am I am a huge mass effect nerd) Whale-dog is the term that would be given to it by humans...I don't have its actual name yet. Think like a pug, but with a mouth big enough to nibble on your whole head...
They are companion piece to a design project I did with my girlfriend, over a hypothetical "male-asari" race, the Tass'ron, and this is one of their space ships, a light frigate style ship with a 5 man fight crew, and engineers + marines possibly...
The design was inspired by a manta ray. I looked up all kind of ship designs and concepts in the research but I find my favorite designs always come from not from using other concepts and art as references but actual photo source martial.
And this was only gleened after the 10th attempt, proof once again the first design is rarely the winner.
This ship is planned for upcoming 3d projects

Axes and Normal Maps
Tonight was more work on the ax. I finally figured out through experimentation Skyrim uses a green up and red right normal map system. So now my ax is looking much better. Finally the design looks properly raised from the surface of the ax head. I think I will call this ax done at this point. Onward towards finishing this project off, time to make some swords.

So I'm working on a project to make gear for Skyrim that is both historically accurate and fits the theme and art of Skyrim. Today I did some work on the 2 handed Ax so far its looking good and in the game.
The axe was completely designed, modded and textured by your's truly. The screens have an effect because I enjoy one of the ENB presets it enhance my Skyrim playing.
Though it looks like my normal maps may need some help! That dragon is supposed to be raised not recessed. Time to fix that for tomorrow.
